Hatebreed are back. The Grammy-nominated hardcore institution have announced Fatal Paradox, their ninth studio album and first new music in six years, arriving on 6th November via their new label home BLKIIBLK.
Leading the charge is ‘Kill Count Increase’, a two-and-a-half-minute gut-punch produced by long-time collaborator Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Accept, Shadows Fall). All accelerating speed, crushing riffs and Jamey Jasta’s trademark bark, it sets the tone for what the band promise is a no-frills return to what they do best.
“‘Kill Count Increase’ is the lead track on Fatal Paradox and a perfect way of summing up our first album in six years from the start,” says Jasta. “It’s straightforward, in-your-face Hatebreed. Fast. Hard. It gets down to business and comes up for air two-and-a-half minutes later. The room and everyone in it gets wrecked and comes back wanting more.”
Recorded by the Connecticut crew at full tilt, Fatal Paradox trades in the breakdowns, d-beats and pile-ons that made their name, from the thrashing ‘Total Invincible’ to the hardcore heft of ‘The Carrion Choir’ and ‘Truth Is A Lion’. Obituary‘s John Tardy also turns up as a guest on ‘Sacrifice Season’.
Hatebreed are spending the summer and autumn tearing across North America, including a run headlining Summer Slaughter and support slots with Slayer and Turnstile, though there’s no word yet on UK dates.
We’ve always rated Hatebreed as one of the most reliable forces in heavy music, and on this early evidence Fatal Paradox is going to give us just the heavy fix we need!
