Ghost’s 2 Big to Rig hits cinemas and IMAX in August

Ghost are not a band who do anything by halves, so when the follow-up to a record-breaking first feature film arrives, of course it is called 2 Big to Rig.

The Swedish theatrical rock icons have announced their second cinema outing, landing in cinemas and IMAX worldwide from Wednesday 26th August for a limited run. Directed by Amir Chamdin and produced by frontman Tobias Forge among others, it is the band’s second collaboration with Trafalgar Releasing, following 2024’s global box office hit Rite Here Rite Now, which became the highest grossing hard rock cinema event in North American history.

Where that first film leaned on narrative, 2 Big to Rig trains its lens squarely on the live ritual. Captured on 16mm across two sold-out nights at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes in September 2025, it drops the viewer into a crowd of nearly 40,000 and offers the only professionally shot footage of Papa V Perpetua and his Nameless Ghouls from the entirely phone-free SKELETOUR.

The title nods to the tour itself, which Ghost wound up in February 2026 after 70 shows across North America, Europe and Mexico. The film was conceived to bring the SKELETOUR experience to territories where staging the production wasn’t feasible, and as a gift to the fans who held tickets for the first of three planned Mexico City dates, reduced to two after opening night was pulled due to illness.

Across its running time, the band tear through material from all six albums, including 2025’s chart-topping Skeletá, alongside non-album favourites ‘Mary On A Cross’, ‘Kiss the Go-Goat’ and ‘The Future is a Foreign Land’.

“Ghost captured the final nights of the legendary Skeletour’s first leg on 16mm film in Mexico City, creating a nostalgic experience and a fitting farewell to an era for fans,” said Kymberli Frueh of Trafalgar Releasing. “It’s the perfect way to close such a significant chapter in the band’s history and give fans a chance to relive this moment together.”

We’d suggest catching it on the biggest screen you can find!
