Hero In Error/Enemy Within

With a four year hiatus now behind them, Ireland/UK metal hardcore five-piece Hero In Error finally released new music with the single ‘Enemy Within‘ and out now is their new self-titled EP, featuring the single plus three additional tracks.

Speaking of the single, guitarist Gary Regan said; “’Enemy Within’ is one of those songs that just happened organically for us. We stumbled upon a riff that sounded cool, and from there, the rest of the song fell into place effortlessly.

“While we did make some adjustments during the guitar tracking process, the essence of the song remained unchanged since we first demoed it. Interestingly, it ended up being the last song we wrote for the EP. It’s an absolute blast to play, and we’re excited to share it with everyone.

Formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 2007, Hero In Error  was founded by drummer Stephen Reilly and guitarist Gary Regan, the band’s inception was fuelled by the desire to blend the diverse styles of Mastodon, Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins, and Sikth.

Produced by Justin Hill, they released their debut EP The High Points Of New Lows in 2010, a project that captured the attention of the local metal scene, and led to their signing with Mediaskare Records in the U.S. the following year.  The band having since supported the likes of Mastodon, Parkway Drive, Architects, and The Ghost Inside. In 2011 fellow guitarist Rob Powderly solidified the band’s lineup, alongside bsas player Jay Doyle.

Despite a promising start, Hero in Error encountered a challenging phase with member changes, leading to a hiatus from 2013 to 2016. The band re-emerged with renewed vigour introducing vocalist Kaan Tasan (Heart Of A Coward).

2016 saw the release of Hollow Truth, and in 2017 the Obey EP. Each a reinvention of the band, showcasing their evolving maturity. They will perform at the Takedown Festival in Portsmouth Guildhall on 13th and 14th April, with the likes of Creeper, Terrorvision, Black Gold, and others.

“It’s been a long time coming and it’s never felt so right. This is something that’s been hibernating inside of us for so long, and now we get to let it out,” said the band. “We are very excited to perform our first live show in years at Takedown Festival, alongside some incredible artists.”

More information on the festival can be found  here. Thereafter the band will embark on a run of three dates in Ireland taking in The Workmans Venue, Dublin on April 18th, Limerick, Dolans Warehouse 19th, and Fred Zeppelins on 20th.  Support on all three Irish dates comes from Worn Out.
