Jared James Nichols has released his fourth studio album, Louder Than Fate, out now via Frontiers Music Srl, and marked the occasion with new single ‘Way Back’ and its video.
The American guitarist and bandleader has spent years building a reputation as one of the most electrifying players of his generation, known for a thunderous, pick free style and a commanding live presence. Louder Than Fate leans into all of it, balancing muscle and melody across thunderous riffs, searing solos and emotionally charged vocals with a punchy, modern production. The record moves between full throttle rock anthems and more reflective turns, and tracks such as ‘Bending Or Breaking’ and ‘Killing Time’ widen the palette with subtle keys and cinematic strings without losing any weight.
The album was produced and mixed by Jay Ruston, whose credits take in Anthrax, Stone Sour, Amon Amarth and Skindred, with additional production from Roger Alan Nichols. “I poured in all my heart and soul and doused it with real live rock n roll,” Nichols says of the record, framing it as a celebration of music made by human beings.
We have long rated Jared James Nichols as a guitarist who plays like every note matters, and Louder Than Fate captures that better than anything he has put out so far.
He has been marking the release with intimate events across Europe and Britain, including dates at Banquet Records in Kingston upon Thames and Rough Trade East in London. A run supporting George Thorogood and The Destroyers then follows, taking in Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall on 29 June and Indigo at the O2 in Greenwich on 30 June. He has also partnered with Gibson TV on a forthcoming documentary, The Long Road, charting his journey as an artist.
