LIPZ drag Straight Up onto the Sunset Strip

Swedish glam rockers LIPZ have taken Paula Abdul’s ‘Straight Up’ and dragged it out of 1988 and onto the Sunset Strip, releasing a full-throttle rock rendition of the pop classic via Frontiers Music Srl.

“Stripping the song down to its core and rebuilding it with roaring guitars and arena-sized energy, we’ve transformed the pop classic into a bold, hard-hitting rock anthem while keeping the unforgettable melodies intact,” the band commented.

Formed in 2011 by Klintberg brothers Alexander K (vocals, guitar) and Koffe (drums), alongside guitarist Conny Svärd, LIPZ released their debut single ‘Ghost Town’ in 2012, then the Psycho EP three years later. The search for a regular bass player resulted in fill-ins by Alexander Klintberg and a three year delay before a full length release arrived. Now signed to Frontiers Records, their latest album was 2024’s Changing The Melody.

Featuring Alex K Klintberg (lead vocals, guitar), Jonatan Berg (guitar, backing vocals), Koffe K Klintberg (drums, backing vocals) and Taneli Armas (bass, backing vocals), you can check out the official video for ‘Straight Up’ below.
