Live at the Greek Theatre captures Joe Bonamassa’s August 29th concert in Los Angeles where he pays tribute to the legendary guitarists Albert, B.B; and Freddie King as part of his The Three Kings Tour of 2015. Featuring over two hours of some of the most classic tracks made famous by the three bluesmen it will be released on September 23rd on 22-track double CD, a two disc DVD collection, Blu-ray, and as a three LP Deluxe Edition.
Songs covered included ‘Born Under A Bad Sign’, ‘Lonesome Whistle Blues’, ‘Hummingbird’, ‘Let The Good Times Roll’, and in finale ‘The Thrill Is Gone’ played in honour of Bonamassa’s mentor BB. King who passed away but two months earlier.
The Three Kings Tour followed the Grammy-nominated blues rock guitarist’s previous year’s tribute tour to Muddy Water and Howlin’ Wolf that culminated in Joe Bonamassa – Muddy Wolf at Red Rocks. A portion of the proceeds from each donated to the Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation, a non-profit Bonamassa founded in 2011 to promots the heritage of the blues to the next generation, funds music scholarships, and supplement the loss of music education in public schools.
Live at the Greek Theatre features Anton Fig (drums), Kirk Fletcher (guitar), Michael Rhodes (bass), Reese Wynans (piano, Hammond organ), Lee Thornburg (trumpet, horn arrangements), Paulie Cerra (saxophone), Nick Lane (trombone), and backup singers Mahalia Barnes, Jade MacRae, and Juanita Tippins. The recordings feature a collector’s edition booklet, plus several bonus features including behind-the-scenes footage, many of whom will join him when he returns to the UK in April 2017 for a return performance at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday 20th April and Friday 21st April.
It will be the third time Bonamassa will perform at The Royal Albert Hall, his first time in 2009 featuring a guest appearance from Eric Clapton, and his previous appearance resulting in one of his bestselling live albums with Joe Bonamassa – Live From The Royal Albert Hall. Tickets may be purchased direct from The Royal Albert Hall, Ticketmaster, Bonamassa’s own website and by calling the 24 hour ticket hotline on 0844 844 0444.
