The HU are back, and they’re hitting harder than ever. The Mongolian rock pioneers have dropped ‘The Real You’ via Better Noise Music, and honestly? This track is an absolute beast.
From the moment it kicks in, you’re hit with gritty vocals that tear through the speakers like a storm across the steppes. The fast paced heavy metal assault carries serious Metallica and Megadeth influences, with that fist pumping energy that makes you want to break things in the best possible way. The HU are coming back like a fast storm, and it’s so good. Just wait for the melodic breakdown!
The track was produced by Dashka and mixed by five time Grammy Award winning producer Chris Lord-Alge. It showcases the band pushing their signature Hunnu Rock into heavier territory while keeping those traditional Mongolian elements that make them utterly unique.
Tovshuur player and throat singer Temka explains: “‘The Real You’ single is the representation of our forthcoming new album. We recorded this song thinking of our ancestors, riding fast on the horse back through the landscape. Listen to this song to express the feelings you have buried inside and feel the overwhelming energy we pass through to you.”
Lyrically, the song draws from a Mongolian proverb about focusing on yourself rather than judging others. Sung entirely in Mongolian, lines like “Will you keep slandering, gaslighting, menacing, and abusing?” hit with unflinching power regardless of language barriers.
The HU continue to cement their status as a global phenomenon with over 961 million streams and the distinction of being the first rock/metal band to receive UNESCO’s “Artist for Peace” designation. This summer, they’ll join Iron Maiden at Knebworth on July 11 before embarking on the “Freaks On Parade” U.S. tour with Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, and Orgy from August 20.
‘The Real You’ is available now on all streaming platforms
