The North East of England can look forward to Tynebound, a brand new black metal festival event scheduled to take place across the weekend of 5th-6th September at Anarchy Brew Co; a brewery, taproom and venue based just a couple of miles outside of Newcastle city centre.
Intended as “an intense, close-quarters experience”, Tynebound will be limited strictly to 500 guests and at the time of writing, the event has already reached 50% capacity. This inaugural event is being put together by the team behind the highly successful Fortress Festival and Reaper Agency UK, so looks to be in good, reliable hands.
Venue host Anarchy Brew Co. will also be offering a curated range of limited brews for the event, including a specially commissioned Fortress IPA.
Bands thus far announced as appearing at Tynebound are as follows:
Finnish melodic black metal act Moonlight Sorcery will headline on the Sunday. Czech black metal veterans Inferno, known for their shift from primitive roots to avant-garde, mind-altering compositions will be performing and there’s a rare live appearance from Aristarchos due, alongside Canada’s Conifère who blend black metal with ambient and dungeon synth elements.
Scotland’s Cnoc An Tursa will be performing material from their forthcoming A Cry For The Slain album, blending black metal with evocative Gaelic melodies as tales of banshees, giants, dragons and ancient legends are brought roaring to life. Ireland’s Coscradh, whose Carving The Causeway To The Otherworld binds together bygone causeways, war gods and star-born forces, will also appear.
English avant-black/death metal group Lychgate will perform material from their latest Debemur Morti Productions release, Precipice, bringing a progressive, surrealist sense of dread to events. Solo project Oakenthrone is set to emerge from the damp soil of the underground in a debut that promises the introspective chill of black metal with the mournful grandeur of doom metal, while exploring themes of the divine, the decayed and the deeply human. Showcasing a new lineup and new music, modern UK black metal act The Sun’s Journey Through The Night will be there, stating: “After a long period of silence, The Sun’s Journey Through The Night are incredibly excited to finally journey north once again to perform, with a new line-up, new music and a renewed chaotic energy. Hail No One.”
Making their first ever live performance, Magnetar will present an amalgam of classic and raging extreme metal following the release of their debut album, There Will Be No Peace In My Valley through Vendetta Records. Blood Countess will be bringing their uncompromising devotion to themes centred on the tyranny of Elizabeth Bathory, and their new album, Imperatrix Sanguinis, will have been released by then. The Infernal Sea will also be present, commenting: “In the blink of an eye, ten years have flashed before us. 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of our sophomore album The Great Mortality. During that time, we have encountered a modern-day pandemic, a harrowing situation which only enforced the subject matter of the album. We return to the past for a handful of shows celebrating The Great Mortality, whereby we will perform the album in its entirety. We invite you to join the ritual and herald a new age of darkness and misery. Fear the Black Death, it comes for us all.”
