The now-defunct lo-fi dark ambient project known as Vornoff ceased to be many years ago, but these past few years have seen a few archival releases compiling some of the group’s best and most noteworthy compositions from the murky past (albeit in remastered and occasionally remixed form) pop up on the underground radar. The third release in their archival series, namely the short and concise EP titled A Poor-Quality Tape of Longing, contains four tracks that thematise the idea of longing for something to either begin or end, mostly the latter, as it were. Religious madness and the foul stench that emanates from said disease also make an appearance throughout. From the opening piece titled ‘Cease’ to the closing strains of ‘With Resignation’, wholehearted immersion is required for this pensive and oftentimes elegiac slice of ambient darkness.
