Rob Zombie continued his frankly epic film career recently when it was announced that he is crowd sourcing for a new release, ‘31’.
After months of toying with fans Rob Zombie broadcast the news via www.rollingstone.com, who broadcast that “the director is offering up a variety of high-quality rewards to people who want to support the movie, including autographed posters, a chance for Zombie to follow a winner on Twitter, a winner’s name in the credits, a lifetime laminate to see Zombie on tour at any show and a gig as an extra in 31. Zombie will also offer selected props from his movies, including Halloween masks and giant crosses from House of 1000 Corpses.”
The man himself explained why he chose to fund the film this way: “I’m crowd funding because I realize that it’s an incredible opportunity to engage the fans. They’ve always been the most important thing for me because, with metal and horror, the fans aren’t just fans – it’s their life, their lifestyle. They live and breathe it, as I do, and any way that you can bring the people that are as passionate about it as you are into the process is a win-win for everybody…Get on board! Get involved! Be part of this horrifying business! The world of horror needs you!”
‘31’ centres around five people who go missing in the run up to Halloween, and the terrifying fate that awaits them at the hands of Rob Zombie’s favourite people; hideous, insane clowns. Our baggy-trousered, face-painted hosts bring their five sorry guests back for a little stay in the ‘does what it says on the tin’ location of Murder World, where they must survive what Zombie describes as ‘the most violent game known to man…31’.
A tasty little teaser trailer takes us for a stroll down memory lane to remind us of the joys of the House of 1000 Corpses, through Devil’s Rejects, the Halloween remakes, and the 2009 animation, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, before dropping us square back into bloody horror and mayhem with Lords of Salem, and signing off with a curious taste of what is yet to come…
So, if you fancy getting your hands on exclusive one-off merch like props from House of 1000 Corpses, original film artwork, getting mentioned in the credits, or a laminate that will get you into ANY Rob Zombie gig for the rest of your life, head on over to Rob’s crowd funding campaign at http://www.fanbacked.com/c/31-rob-zombie-film and make your pledge now!
