These aren’t fun times at all recently, zero gigs, festivals falling to the wayside, people fretting and panicking over work and the stress of being cooped up in close quarters with family, but not all is bad! Sacred Reich released their latest album Awakening back in August 2019, and with it comes almost 32 minutes of pure thrash with a positive message. Awakening is their first studio release since 1996’s ‘Heal’ and has founders Phil Rind (bassist/vocals) and Wiley Arnett (lead guitar) rejoined with drummer Dave McClain and young 22-year-old Joey Raziwill on rhythm guitar replacing guitarist Jason Rainey just as the recording began, Jason sadly passed away very recently due to a heart attack.
With all going on in the world and the loss of a friend, Sacred Reich have jumped at the opportunity to release a new video promoting nothing but positivity. Phil Rind spoke of the video saying “We want to put something positive out there right now. ‘Salvation’ is about music’s ability to encourage and inspire us and bring us together.”
‘Salvation’ was shot and edited by Fiaz Farrelly, compiling footage of live performances together and really encapsulates the love and brotherhood of what metal is all about.
‘Salvation’ Lyrics:
Good times now are here to stay
All our cares have gone away
Here to feel the energy
Congregation you and me
Plug in turn up
Lose ourselves tonight
Know you no me
All as one tonight
Lead us to salvation
Awash in positivity
It is clear for all to see
Love will always be the way
The time is now we’re here to say
Plug in turn up
Lose ourselves tonight
Know you no me
All as one tonight
Lead us to salvation
Now it is more important than ever to stay home, stay safe, and look out for everyone. As Wiley aptly ends the video “Love every day, love everybody.”
