Following a genuinely impressive tour back in 2017, Samantha Fish will be returning to these shores in May next year, and will have a new album out to coincide the dates.
“I’m never gonna be a traditional blues artist, because that’s not who I am,” declared Ms Fish, despite being a multi-award-winning blues guitarist and singer/songwriter over in the USA. “But it’s all the blues for me. When Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf came out, what they were doing didn’t sound like anything that had been done in blues before. You’ve gotta keep that kind of fire and spirit. I’m never gonna do Muddy Waters better than Muddy Waters, so I have to be who I am and find my best voice.”
At turns sweet, gentle and tender at others sassy, wild and riveting, Samantha Fish is a charismatic performer and impressive six string guitarist live, and as her last two albums, Belle of the West and Chills & Fever (both released in the same year) prove she doesn’t repeat herself by turning in remarkably different sounding recordings with each visit to the studio.
