‘Shadows Fall’ from King Kraken, a dark and unnerving tale about getting lost in the woods only to be met by malevolence and evil wrongdoing, will be out as the rock and metal band’s latest single on 18th September.
The South Wales band recorded it at Longwave Studios, Cardiff, where it was mixed and mastered by Romesh Dodangoda, who also engineered alongside The Sweet‘s Tom Cory. It is King Kraken‘s third single this year.
Inspired by horror films’ subgenre of found footage such as The Blair Witch Project. The idea for this track was to flip the melodic structure by having more melody in the verses and a gritty, aggressive chorus. Like a journey where everything starts fine but the deeper you go the darker it gets. Coming straight out the gate with a catchy riff that doesn’t let up for a second. The intention being to grab you by the neck and drag you around as opposed to holding your hand.
It follows summer single ‘I Am The Apocalypse’, a tale of cultish mentality and a wolf in sheep’s clothing bringing about the end of times. An ominous, stomping, menace ridden track that delves deep into dark themes of false prophets, blind devotion and dangerous cult mentality.
2025 saw second album March Of The Gods released, and singles from it playlisted on both Planet Rock and Kerrang! Radio. The band previously having supported the likes of The Almighty, Crobot, Monster Truck and The Sweet and performed at various major festivals as well as headlining themselves.
