Dirt & Bone with Stormbringer

Out now, the Transcendence album from Stormbringer on Attic Records, and with it their latest single, ‘Dirt And Bone’.

‘Dirt And Bone’ is a dark and moody track. It was originally written for the Blood And Rust album before my departure from the band in 2015,” said returning vocalist Mike Stockley. “We always loved the original version and felt it would be a shame to leave it locked away.”

Continuing, he reflected: “Revisiting the lyrics and performing the song again during rehearsals brought back memories of a time when I felt drained and overwhelmed by how I viewed myself and my place in the world. I was clearly not in a good space and needed support and care from friends and loved ones.

“While it pains me now to think about how harshly I treated myself, I can also recognise that period as a dangerous yet important part of my personal growth.

‘Dirt And Bone’ has become something I can measure that journey against, and for that, I’m thankful,” he concluded.

Once more the Northamptonshire band blend classic rock and heavy metal with a contemporary edge, but this time they look beyond the individual to examine the wider world and the challenges faced by society. Its themes explore external struggles, social division, modern culture and the forces that shape the world around us.

Transcendence embraces the Jungian concept of the shadow self, recognising that personal growth does not come from rejecting the darker aspects of who we are, but from understanding and accepting them. It explores the fears, flaws, experiences and emotions that shape us, while acknowledging that our personal struggles exist within a wider human experience.

Tracks featured on Transcendence are: ‘Energy’, ‘Busy Doing Nothing’, ‘Other Of 2’, ‘Dirt And Bone’, ‘Grow’, ‘Cut The Vein’, ‘All Along’, ‘Whole Again’, ‘Scapegoat’ and ‘Damn You All’.

Transcendence was produced by Russ Russell (Napalm Death, The Wildhearts, The Exploited, New Model Army and more).
