Genre-bending alternative artist SIIICKBRAIN has returned with new single ‘Filthy’ featuring Fetish, alongside an accompanying music video, out now via Nowhere Recordings in partnership with Pale Chord/Rise Records BMG. The track arrives as the third release from her forthcoming sophomore album HOUNDSTOOTH, due June 3, 2026.
Our initial thoughts? What genre is this? Comments online are already saying they’re surprised this landed on Rise Records, because it does sound more hip hop than anything else. We’re mostly rock and metal here at RAMzine, but we like alternative art and music, and while this is perhaps a bit outside our normal listening, it’s not bad. It’s just different.
‘Filthy’ pairs cathartic storytelling and restrained vocal delivery against booming 808s (a piece of kit from the early 1980s that became hugely influential in hip hop, trap and electronic music) that create a sense of eerie stillness, before Fetish’s sharp, high-energy rap cadence cuts through. The two trade verses with commanding presence, channelling a raw, self-assured energy that blurs the line between control and chaos.
SIIICKBRAIN said: “‘Filthy’ to me turns rage into power. The lyrics are meant to bring a feeling of reclaiming control from men who exploit women, reframing violence into an act of reflection. This song goes hand in hand with my album’s exploration of duality where softness and brutality coexist, and survival becomes its own form of strength and empowerment. The video, directed by Afanasii Chavdarid, opens with SIIICKBRAIN pulling up to a gas station in a vintage Japanese sports car before being joined by Fetish. The visuals cut between high-speed drifting in an abandoned lot, the two prowling atop the vehicle and scenes of them getting ready together, before erupting into chaos as an explosion ignites a fire behind them. As flames engulf the backdrop, SIIICKBRAIN and Fetish dance in front of the blaze, embodying the track’s fearless, unpredictable spirit.
SIIICKBRAIN is a multi-hyphenate artist who defies categorisation through a hybrid of experimental pop, alternative, hip-hop, industrial and electronic influences. Her fearless approach has caught the ear of Rick Rubin’s American Songs and earned collaborations spanning worlds, from Skrillex to Willow. She also teamed up with Hawthorne Heights to remix ‘Ohio Is For Lovers’ and joined forces with Pussy Riot for the anthem ‘Power’. ‘Filthy’ follows previous HOUNDSTOOTH singles ‘Palo Santo’ and ‘Murky Water’, plus her recent feature on Skrillex’s EP Kora.
