Empty Chairs, the new album by JUNO-nominated and Maple Blues Award winner Spencer Mackenzie, is out now on Gypsy Soul Records, alongside a live video of the title track you can watch here at RAMzine.
Stirring, warm male tribal harmonies embrace the listener through a bluesy yet commercial number on Mackenzie’s ‘Empty Chairs‘, with an extended honeyed solo to be heard on the live video version.
Produced by twice JUNO-nominated producer and Emmy Award-winning mixer Ross Hayes Citrullo, guitarist with The Commoners, the album captures Mackenzie’s signature blend of gritty, introspective blues rock. His third with Gypsy Soul Records, it is said to be his most personal and explosive work yet.
“What we caught on this album is honesty and fire,” said Citrullo. “Spencer’s playing is fearless, his voice wide open, and every take breathes like a live show you don’t want to end. Producing it was about chasing moments you can’t fake. Tone that tells the truth, stories that cut deep, and performances that live in the room. It’s the blues, lit up with a rock edge, hitting with a modern bite and a timeless feel.”
Tracks featured on Empty Chairs are ‘Empty Chairs‘, ‘Trip‘, ‘What You Do‘, ‘Don’t Know Where I’m Going‘, ‘Till I Get To You‘, ‘Frozen Hearts‘, ‘Helping Hands‘, ‘Why‘, ‘Shoot Me Down‘, ‘Won’t Find Her‘ and ‘Evil‘.
The CD and vinyl editions are available now, with a digital edition on all streaming platforms.
