Parker Barrow return to the UK in July with their sophomore album, Hold The Mash, due out on the 17th.
Bearing the same name as last year’s EP from the Nashville blues-infused Southern rockers, it includes four brand new bangers, one of them new single ‘Blinded‘, out now.
Strutting smugly with chutzpah, Parker Barrow‘s ‘Blinded‘ cherry picks from classic rock’s sweet pocket to stomp out loud and proud. Between necking down on your favourite tipple, get down on the dance floor and sing along with powerhouse vocalist Megan Kane, joined by soulful backing vocals. Check out the accompanying video, where Kane reclaims the mic stand as a weapon to be wielded with equal fury and respect rather than the namby-pamby faux R’n’B hand posturing that’s proliferated the music scene for two decades or more.
‘Blinded‘ was written by Parker Barrow guitarist and musical director Alex Bender and drummer Dylan Turner, who co-founded the band with his wife Kane.
“It was one of the first tracks written and recorded for the new album,” said Bender. “It helped give direction to where we hoped to go with the tracks that followed. The main riff sounds very Stones-y. I approached the rhythm guitar parts how I imagine Keith Richards would play them if he was in the band. ‘Blinded‘ is a good example of the less is more approach, where the beauty lies in its simplicity.”
On the lyrics, Turner added: “It’s so easy for us as musicians to be enthralled by the world we live in, seeking validation from likes and comments that feed the flesh rather than the spirit. I wrote this as a reminder to myself to first seek the kingdom and to not forget the bigger purpose.”
Parker Barrow‘s debut album Jukebox Gypsies arrived in 2023 to glowing reviews from press and fans, with the single ‘Back To Birmingham‘ racking up over 1 million YouTube views. Blending hard-hitting blues, classic rock swagger and modern Southern firepower, Parker Barrow have earned a reputation for their powerhouse live shows.
With Georgia Nevada as special guest, the band play Frome on 17th July, Stowmarket on the 18th, Glasgow on the 21st, Sheffield the 22nd, Leek the 23rd, and Steelhouse Festival on 24th July. Tickets for the July club shows are available via Planet Rock, The Gig Cartel and the band’s website.
