Temple Balls‘ self-titled fifth album is due out on 13th February, and ahead of that, the Finnish band have released their latest single with an official lyric video, ‘Tokyo Love’, via Frontiers Music Srl.
“I was driving my car when the melody popped into my head,” said bass player Jimi Välikangas about how ‘Tokyo Love’ came together. “It started playing on repeat between my ears, and eventually I decided to make a demo of it. We tried different lyric variations but there’s nothing wrong with Tokyo or love, so ‘Tokyo Love’ it is. The song really captures what our band is all about: hard-driving riffs meeting hooky melodies.”
“After releasing four albums, it felt like we have found ourselves a preferred sound and a way to write our music,” said the band. “The northern darkness brings, depending on the listener, its bitter or tickling side taste into our way of interpreting hard rock. So naturally, it’s about time to release an album carrying our divisive band’s name.”
Produced by H.E.A.T’s Jona Tee, tracks featured on Temple Balls are: ‘Flashback Dynamite’, ‘Lethal Force’, ‘Tokyo Love’, ‘There Will Be Blood’, ‘We Are The Night’, ‘Hellbound’, ‘Soul Survivor’, ‘The Path Within’, ‘Stronger Than Fire’, ‘Chasing The Madness’ and ‘Living In A Nightmare’. The band’s first official single, ‘Hell And Feelin’ Fine’, was released back in 2016 and gained radio airplay across Finland. Their debut album, Traded Dreams, followed in 2017, when they toured their homeland alongside Battle Beast before heading to Japan and Ukraine. Second album Untamed came out in 2019, after which they travelled across Europe as special guests to Sonata Arctica. They have subsequently opened for legendary acts such as Queen, Deep Purple, and Uriah Heep, performing at both large festival arenas and small club venues with the same attitude.
Third album Pyromide was their first on the Frontiers label with Tee producing. They subsequently toured Europe with H.E.A.T in 2022 before releasing fourth studio album Avalanche in 2023, which hit the Finnish charts. Through late 2024 they toured their homeland, played the international summer festival season, and came to the UK. 2025 sees them with a new album and more international dates planned.
