Lynne Jackaman, former vocalist with London-based rock and soul band Saint Jude, has put together a new band going under the name of Jackaman.
With debut single ‘You Can’t Take Back’ out now on Itunes, Jackaman declared that she has “a kick-ass band who will be playing London at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on June 16th where they will be “debuting material from my next release.”
Back in 2010 Saint Jude were being touted as the next big thing among rock critics, and since their demise there’s been an upsurge in female-fronted retro-blues rock bands to try and fill that gap. Lynne Jackaman herself has kept a relatively low profile, duetting with Cormac Neeson on The Answer’s ‘Nowhere Freeway’ single and video, playing occasional acoustic gigs and guesting with rock legend Ginger Baker, singing a version of Blind Faith’s ‘Can’t Find My Way Home’. The new Jackaman band could see the highly regard vocalist back at the forefront of the British rock scene.
