Transvision Vamp have announced their first UK tour since 1991, and while they might not be a name that crops up on RAMzine every week, a comeback this big deserves a mention.
The 16-date tour kicks off on October 6 in Newcastle and includes a London show at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, before wrapping up with dates in Dublin and Belfast. The band are coming off a sold-out run across Australia and New Zealand, with Portugal and Spain dates scheduled for September before hitting the UK.
Frontwoman Wendy James, whose reputation for forthright performances and no-nonsense attitude made her an icon of late-80s alternative pop, is clearly buzzing about the return. The 2026 lineup features original members James on vocals and Dave Parsons on bass, alongside Alex Ward, Pip Stakem, Matt Millership and James Sclavunos on drums.
Transvision Vamp were signed to MCA Records and released their breakthrough debut Pop Art in 1988, featuring hit singles ‘I Want Your Love’, ‘Tell That Girl To Shut Up’ and ‘Revolution Baby‘. Second album Velveteen, home to the smash hit ‘Baby I Don’t Care’, reached number one in the UK Charts and ten other countries. Their third album Little Magnets Versus The Bubble Of Babble arrived in 1991 and Kurt Cobain famously attended many of the US shows, wearing TVV t-shirts and declaring himself a fan.
Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster and thewendyjames.com.
