Following a recent show in London and an appearance Ramblin’ Man Fair, The Allman Betts Band has released single ‘Shinin’’, the second single to be taken from their debut album Down To The River.
Featuring Devon Allman (son of Greg Allman) and Duane Betts (son of Dickie Betts), they began pairing up when Betts first turned solo after a touring stint with folk-rockers Dawes and he took up the opening artist set on the Devon Allman Project 2018 world tour.
As part of that, Betts joined Allman each night for a musical tip of the hat to their respective fathers (founder members of the legendary Allman Brothers). They tallied nearly 100 dates at theatres and festivals nationally and internationally, including a return to The Fillmore for what would be the second annual, sold-out Allman Family Revival.
Following that, during off-days on the bus or in hotel rooms, the pair began writing together, then recording new music, and looked towards forming a new band.
They called up Berry Duane Oakley, son of The Allman Brothers Band’s founding late bassist, Berry Oakley – The trio’s musical friendship traced back to The Allman Brothers Band’s 20th anniversary summer tour in 1989 when the three first met, and often sat-in with the Rock-And-Roll Hall of Fame inductees; teenage descendants rightfully joining a rock-and-roll legacy.
From there things grew exponentially leading to The Allman Betts Band and their debut album Down To The River.
