Ancient Settlers’ New World Order

In one of their more melodious compositions to date, International technical modern melodic death metal outfit Ancient Settlers criticise the new post-pandemic system with new single ‘A New World Order‘, that arrives in advance of new EP Transition due on 2nd May.

Featuring catchy synthesisers, a guttural-clean voice duet with Dalay Tarda (Rise To Fall) on backing vocals, getting straight to the core and bouncing between different emotions throughout.

Transition is the interlude for the band’sthe Settlers Saga. An ambitious, melodic, diverse, rough, technical, and aggressive four track EP. Each song intended to have its own personality, and drawing on contemporary topics like the war, the post-pandemic challenges, gender inequalities, the migrant crisis across the world, and the challenges of society.

Founded in 2020 by Carlos Chiesa-Estomba & Herman Riera (Ex- Haboryn), Rene González (Ex- Aesthesis), Emmy Reyes (Blackbeer, Ex- Gamalyel), and Antony Hämäläinen (Meridian Dawn, Ex-Nightrage & Armageddon), a group of musicians with more than fifteen-years of experience in the European and American metal circuit, the band started their journey with the intention to explore the frontiers of modern melodic death metal, including catchy guitar riffs, the use of synths & keyboards and a variety of different sounds and rhythms.

Their intention was to develop their own music personality, and from a lyrical point, the band has been inspired by recent tragedies that affect the earth and human race. They try to spread their message over all who want to listen.

Despite this, the band needed to modify their starting plans, due to the pandemic outbreak. They pushed ahead and in January of 2021, the band released their first single ‘Diamond Eyes’ digitally, alongside a limited-edition 7″ vinyl. The following February, the band released their debut EP, Autumnus, recorded in Portugal, France, Spain and the USA and requested the service of Daniel Cardoso (Anathema, Anneke Van Grisbergen) to mix and master the album, as well as Gus ‘Perkele’ Sazes (AngraKamelot, Gus G, FirewindArch Enemy) to design the artworks.

In April 2021, Miguel Herrera joined the band as the full-time bass player. The band started to develop a live-session tour including venues throughout Portugal, France and Spain. They signed to Crusader Records and put out their 10-track album Our Last Eclipse, produced by worldwide Grammy awarded Fredrik Nordstrom and released spring of 2022.

In February, Ancient Settlers criticised the new era of war in Europe with their single and video ‘Mihi Nomen Est Ira‘, that was described as “energetic and intense death metal accompanied by plenty of modern guitar solos. Clean and guttural voices are supported by Gregorian chants with special guest Pintxo Wayewta of Empire Of Disease on the track.” Still available here you can check out the video to it ere at RAMzine.
