Electronic-rock artist/producer Celldweller has reimagined Deadcode‘s emotionally charged track ‘No Illusion’, and the single is out now from FiXT.
With the original single released earlier this year in August, the remix navigates the delicate balance between chaos and calm, taking listeners on a journey through the feelings of being lost between “nothing and nowhere,” as the lyrics suggest, while offering moments of reflection and resolution in the chorus. Blending hard-hitting soundscapes with the raw intensity of the original, Celldweller is said to amplify this intensity, weaving together pounding beats, layered synths, and the industrial grit. Falling into the electronic and industrial genres, this remix delivers a dark, atmospheric twist that perfectly complements the song’s deep lyrical themes.
The artists commented: “Chester Bennington once said something like, ‘when I’m caught up inside my head, it’s like a bad neighbourhood, and I shouldn’t be out walking alone’. This is a feeling that many of us suffer from, whether it be depression, substance abuse, or past trauma. I don’t like to be alone, and sadly I find myself in that position often due to lots of travel. It can be challenging to not let your mind take you down a dark path with various thoughts and memories. One line from ‘No Illusion is’, “Lost again, in your head, between nothing and nowhere, knowing you shouldn’t be out there alone.“That encompasses the theme of the song; feeling lost. Yet, you find others, whether it be friends or partners who also struggle with some of the same challenges. The song takes on the idea of two people working through their challenges in life together, often including self-destructive behaviors. The chorus attempts to bring everything to a peaceful place, where you’re thinking about existentialism and impermanence. I like to use a lot of figurative language and imagery. In the lyrics are words like “evenfall,” “starlight,” “nightmare,” and lines like “lost again in your head between nothing and nowhere.” I like to leave the interpretation of the lyrics up to the listener and for them to potentially have many meanings to many people” said Deadcode singer/lyricist Stephen Sims.
Formed in 2020 by Steven Morgan (Music/production/guitars) and Stephen Sims (Vocals), Deadcode create a hybrid of rock and electronic music that feeds off of sci-fi themes to deliver an epic soundscape that almost sends listeners to another world. The band’s upcoming series of songs are each releasing along with cinematic high production-value music videos that will unfold the story of an epic space-opera that spans time and galaxies.
“Deadcodeis an ambitious project that bend the lines between music, cinema, and performance, and becomes more rewarding for the fans that want to explore and immerse themselves into something alien,” explained Morgan about the sensorial environment that will enthral listeners with a full-on immersive experience that will integrate the music and videos in the upcoming live performances.
