After 45 years, 17 studio albums and more brushes with death than most of us would care to count, Ministry are bowing out. Hate To Go (Take Out Or Delivery), the new and final album from the industrial pioneers, arrives on 30 October through Cleopatra Records.
Since forming in Chicago in 1981, Al Jourgensen and Ministry have shaped an entire genre. Their run went from synth pop beginnings on Wax Trax! to the seminal Twitch, The Land Of Rape And Honey and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste, then mainstream success and the first of six Grammy nominations with Psalm 69. Before signing off, Jourgensen has a few final things to say about the state of the world, the people running it and how we should all move forward.
The album’s ten tracks include the singles ‘Burned Out’, ‘We Hate’ and ‘Singularity’. Closing track ‘We’re Still Here’ features a last collaboration with former member Paul Barker, a fitting full stop on a remarkable career. Jourgensen is joined by his current band: guitarists Monte Pittman and Cesar Soto, bassist Paul D’Amour, synth player John Bechdel and drummer Pepe Clarke Magaña.
The tracklist is ‘Crickets’, ‘Voices Of Hate’, ‘Clown Car’, ‘We Hate’, ‘Delete’, ‘Grifter’, ‘The White Man Lied’, ‘Singularity’, ‘Burned Out’ and ‘We’re Still Here’. ‘The White Man Lied’ isn’t on the vinyl or cassette editions.
Ministry will say goodbye on the road too. The 21-date Goodbye Europe 2027 tour starts in early April, with special guests Die Krupps. UK and Ireland fans can catch them at:
6 April: Manchester, O2 Victoria Warehouse
7 April: Dublin, 3Olympia
9 April: Nottingham, Rock City
10 April: London, Troxy
The sets will mix songs from the new album with classic hits.
There won’t be another Al Jourgensen. Love him or loathe him, he never once played it safe, and industrial metal as we know it wouldn’t exist without Ministry. We’ll be at one of those farewell shows, and we suggest you do the same, because this really is the last chance.
Hate To Go (Take Out Or Delivery) will be available on vinyl, CD, cassette and digital.
