Nocturnal Ceremony have returned with their debut album Obsidian, released on 4th March 2026, and it’s already turning heads in the underground death metal scene.
Formed in the 90s before fading away before they could fulfil their potential, the band have come back swinging after a 30 year hiatus with a record that packs crushing riffs, relentless grooves, and an atmosphere that sits somewhere between malignant and captivating. Heavy Metal Philosophy have already tipped it as a dark horse for album of the year lists.
Produced, mixed, mastered, and engineered by Thomas Madsen, Obsidian captures raw ferocity alongside atmospheric depth, with guitar tones described as some of the chunkiest in recent memory and dynamic shifts that keep every moment engaging. Fans of Igorrr, Behemoth, and Bloodbath will find plenty to sink their teeth into here.
The band themselves describe the release in deeply personal terms, calling it an act of letting go and a way to express emotions that simply do not have words. Independent, uncompromising, and heavy!!
Obsidian is out now.
