Fresh off of their 25th anniversary which saw the band play a series of special “An Evening With…” shows last year, Opeth have announced a one off London date that shall take place towards the back end of the year at none other than Wembley Arena on Saturday 19th November.
The show should come close to the release of the new album, a follow up to 2014’s ‘Pale Communion’.
The man, the myth, the legend himself, frontman Mikael Akerfeldt expressed his excitement when asked. “We’ve Wembley Arena once before supporting Dream Theater but to be back on our own, so to speak, is a daunting yet exciting task. London has always been kind to us ever since our very early overseas shows, and I have no doubt that this will be yet another overwhelming experience. This will be the biggest show we have ever done on our own and we will approach it with our 25 years as a band in our luggage. It will be memorable and fantastic I have no doubt. I hope you’ll be there to celebrate with us. A bunch of bums from Stockholm. Can’t believe we’re doing this. I’m nervous. Excited. Fucking hell! Opeth at Wembley Arena. Who would have thought?!”
Tickets for the show are scheduled to go on sale this Friday, 18th March from 9am. A special limited VIP option is also available and on sale at the same time.
Be sure to put this one in your diary folks!
