Regarding Starlite. One, listeners were told to expect “delicious music that gets your heart beating and your feet moving with infectious riffs and double harmonies, giant grooves and so much to be discovered.”
On this album, the duo worked with drummer Hugo Danin, who they describe as “one of the finest in Europe, and that they “are playing everything else!”
Suzy Starlite also created the collage artwork for the album cover with graphic design by Tiago Cruz. While Simon Campbell recorded and produced the album at the Supertone Studio. Mastering was by Jon Astley who has worked with The Rolling Stones, Porcupine Tree, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Eric Clapton, The Who and many others.
Starlite. One was made available in physical formats, including 180g vinyl – The lacquers for the vinyl were cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road in London who cut The Beatles‘ back catalogue.

At the tail-end of last year, they issued ‘The Voting Machine’ as a single with accompanying video. The compelling visuals included footage filmed by videographer Daniela Ferreira inside the stunning Tejo Power Station in Lisbon, Portugal, and are intended to offer “an electrifying fusion of music and storytelling”. You can find that out for yourselves b checking out the video here at RAMzine.
“‘The Voting Machine’ offers a poignant reflection of the pivotal role of machines and the voting systems employed in different societies and cultures throughout the world,” Suzy Starlite explained at the time.
Back in September, they released ‘Saving Me’ as a single from Starlite.One. Available on digital platforms by clicking here, you can check out the accompany video right here at RAMzine.
Before that, back in April, they released ‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ as a single, ahead of the new album. The song was originally intended for release last year but due to the sad passing of The Specials/Fun Boy Three singer Terry Hall, but it was decided to wait out of respect until the time felt right.
Following the passing of celebrated Canadian singer/songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, they also more recently, issued a cover of his hit single ‘If You Could Read My Mind Love’.
‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ was originally co-written by The Go-Go’s Jane Wiedlen and Terry Hall. It’s a special song that Suzy Starlite and Simon Campbell have always loved.
It started out as a jam in the studio when Gabriele Del Vecchio was in Portugal tracking keyboards for The Language Of Curiosity album and was subsequently transformed by the double harmonies, ethereal guitars and groove-laden drums from Steve Gibson.
The song was originally intended for release last year but due to the sad passing of Terry Hall, it was decided to wait out of respect until the time felt right. It transpires that in early 2022 they had decided to play ‘If You Could Read My Mind’ on one of their live streams, recording the track with humility and love planning to release the song in July 2023. Well, now is a most apt time to do so.
“We celebrate the life and music of Gordon Lightfoot and have released ‘If You Could Read My Mind‘ today, as our loving tribute to this unique, enigmatic and thoughtful troubadour,” they announced, and a really quite beautiful rendition as the couple sing together.
Both ‘If You Could Read My Mind‘ and ‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ are available to listen to and buy exclusively on Bandcamp – A trusted site that supports independent musicians by paying them proper money for their work.
