Aussie/German rock band Sweet Electric have released a brand new single, but it came about through a tragic set of circumstances. The song ‘I Remember You’ has been dedicated to singer Brad Marr’s mother Debbie who tragically passed away on Tuesday 26th May just four days before its release, after a short but hard fought battle with cancer.
In a cruel case of life imitating art, the video clip featured Marr in a hospital while the band watch over him, and was filmed just a week before his mother was diagnosed.
“My mum was always my biggest fan. We filmed this clip and then my Mum called with the news she was sick. I immediately flew to Australia. When I was there, she wanted to listen to the album and give her honest review as she always has. ‘I Remember You’ was her favourite song. I never showed her the video clip but I promised to dedicate the song to her. I am heartbroken and still in shock as we release this song, I love you Mum,” the singer revealed.
The band have not yet played the song live but will be touring in the second half of the year to promote the song and upcoming album titled Something Something Disco.
Sweet Electric will be appearing at Nozfest in the UK this August, then touring in September supporting The Lazys, then in October when they’ll be supporting Hayseed Dixie.
