The track artfully blends post-punk influences with poetic verses, a juicy chorus, and an inventive instrumental section, showcasing the The Burbs’ creativity and their knack for crafting captivating hooks. Coated in irony, the track’s sunny lyrical themes are juxtaposed by the band’s dark-attitude delivery. The climactic ending features alternate lyrics that add a satisfying twist to the final chorus, leaving listeners eager for more.

This new single marks The Burbs’ third release, following on from their 2024 demo album Sunlight Spills Across The Swimming Pool and subsequent single ‘Ladder To The Moon’ – which earned significant radio airplay both in Australia and abroad.

Comprised of members Danny Valitutti, Peri Brown, and Brook Mckeon, The Burbs are not just a band; they’re a movement. Their music resonates with a rebellious spirit, embodying the essence of Australian rock. Having toured heavily prior to 2024, this year marks a turning point for a group keen to prove they’ve got the doggedness to assemble an ever-growing discography of admirable quality.

Formed in 2016 amidst the vibrant Surf Coast/Geelong rock scene, The Burbs quickly gained a reputation. Known for their unique blend of pop melodies and dark lyrics, they effortlessly evoke a nostalgic vibe that resonates sonically and visually.

2024 has been a monumental year for The Burbs, marked by the release of their 12-track demo album, Sunlight Spills Across The Swimming Pool. Their single, ‘Ladder To The Moon‘ is a heartfelt soft rock ballad, with its metaphoric lyrics about loss, featuring Pink Floyd-esque guitars and Beatles-like keys.

The record kicks off with a vocal sample followed by an acoustic guitar progression that sets the stage. The first chorus hooks listeners with echoes of classic rock, Britpop, and folk. As the track progresses, a psychedelic indie rock vibe with touches of indie folk takes hold, leading into a musical interlude rich with vocal harmonies and sweet chords. The final chorus seamlessly transitions into an outro, creating an enticing conclusion that leaves listeners wanting more.
