The obscure and unfathomable zeitgeist that is The Captain of the Lost Waves unveils debut single ‘Another Planet’ onto this world. The Captain, an intergalactic time traveller, an existence of thousands of years with a wealth of energy that trades for stories of the unimaginable.
It is through these stories with other worldly characters that go by the names of ‘Blind Tom’, ‘Mr. Jack Hobbs’ and ‘Mr Mark Twain’ back in the year of 1888 that a discussion took place backstage at the Orpheum theatre, Brooklyn. With all the combined magic, mystery, artistry and both genius, and madness combined, created the concoction that would become ‘Another Planet’. All witnessed by a young unknown being, Arthur Crabtree, who went in search across the worlds do quench his thirst for knowledge of what he had just discovered. In search of The Captain he went…
“So who is the devil? Is he real, or just another manifestation of our own shadow energies? Is he still around and where does one find him, is he on the TV?”
The Captain answers cryptically “He is to be found where young fertile, open minds go. The kids, the kids, the kids! The only immunity from getting caught in the net, is to translate the gentle yet coercive language of the heart! We are banking on it!” explained the captain. The tale of Robert Johnson poured forth from the Captain’s lips. “Just another version, just another re-imagining of an ancient tail Mr Crabtree.”
The one man show took part and provided a magical display at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival earlier this year, reaching emphatic 4 and 5 star reviews, and more recently made an appearance at The Spirit of Music and Art live at Leeds Minster with a full band performance on Halloween, soon followed by another first, the screening of debut single video, ‘Another Planet’.
Finding BAFTA award winning animators on his journey, ‘Fettle Animation’ went along for the ride into the mind of The Captain and created the masterpiece of visual art to accompany the ‘Another Planet’ single.
