Love Is A Bitch Claim The Rasmus

Six times platinum and eight times gold-certified, record-breaking Finnish rock outfit The Rasmus is back with new single ‘Love Is A Bitch’.

“‘This song was always a wildcard,” sais lead singer  Lauri Ylönen. “It never fit with the rest of the songs. Still, we thought it was a fun song to play and I’m glad we decided to put it on the album. Lyrically, it’s about someone who’s treating you like shit but is too good in bed to let go.”

You can listen to ‘Love Is A Bitch’ here and watch the video below. It follows the toxic love-themed single ‘Break These Chains’ featuring Niko Vilhelm of Blind Channel, via Better Noise Music and Playground Music.

Driven by the band’s signature blend of dark atmospheres and anthemic melodies, both songs are taken from the album Weirdo due 12th September. You can also listen to ‘Break These Chains’ here and watch the video, directed by Aleksei Kulikov, here at RAMzine.

“‘Break These Chains’ is about a toxic relationship,” said singer Lauri Ylönen, who digs his teeth into such lethal lyrics as “You made me believe that true passion makes you bleed, So I stayed too long to o play your twisted games.”

Lauri Ylönen wrote the song with revered hit songwriters/producers Marti Fredeiksen and Desmond Child.  “It’s about letting go of something that you know is bad for you, but you’re obsessed with.”

The Rasmus called on Niko Vilhelm (of the Finnish Nu metal band Blind Channel) to make a special guest vocal appearance. “The Rasmus are heroes of mine, so obviously I was excited when Lauri called me and asked me to be a part of this song. Even more so when I heard the track. The heavier sound suits them soooo well. I’m so hyped about where they’re headed and what’s to come.”

With their signature blend of dark atmospheres and anthemic melodies, the band remain a force to be reckoned with in the rock world. In their native Finland, where they are the reigning #1 rock band, The Rasmus stands at #1 on Spotify, YouTube, Instagram and Deezer as far as followers, views, likes and streams.

Break These Chains’ follows ‘Creatures Of Chaos’ still available on all digital outlets via Better Noise Music and Playground Music.

At its core, ‘Creatures Of Chaos’ is an anthem for outsiders, a rallying cry for anyone who has ever felt like they don’t belong. “‘Creatures Of Chaos’ is a global invitation to all misfits and anyone out there who’s ever felt like an outsider to join us!” exclaimed frontman Lauri Ylönen. “The world is such a messed-up place right now. I felt like going harder musically to match my feelings of being lost, scared and uncomfortable. People are so divided with their opinions that I find myself looking for hope and unity out of people like myself. It’s important to belong somewhere and take a stand with your opinions. ‘Creatures Of Chaos’ is a shout-out to all people like us to come together.”

The song was written by Ylönen together with Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper etc) and Marti Fredriksen (Aerosmith), Child having worked together with the band on the previous albums Black Roses and Rise. ‘Creatures Of Chaos’ was tracked at Fredriksen’s Sienna Studios in Nashville. Joseph McQueen did some additional production and mixed and mastered the track at Sparrow Sound in Los Angeles, and is said to capture the band at their “most dynamic and urgent”.

The singles follow-up October 2024’s ‘Rest In Pieces’. Fans can stream the singles  here and check out videos here at RAMzine.
