North East UK horror punk and rock outfit Hellbound Heist have unleashed their new single ‘Santa Carla‘.
Santa Carla is, of course, the fictional Californian seaside town from cult 1987 vampire flick The Lost Boys, the self proclaimed “murder capital of the world” overrun by Kiefer Sutherland’s leather clad bloodsuckers. As the band’s vocalist, Sophie Wegner, confirms, the track is “inspired by the 80s movie The Lost Boys, with classic horror punk vibes,” which provides a clear reference to what Hellbound Heist are aiming for as a band.
What we really like about Hellbound Heist is the commitment to the bit. Plenty of bands flirt with horror punk imagery, but it’s a different proposition when an act builds the entire identity around it, complete with the riffs, hooks and DIY aesthetic to back it up.
For fans of the Misfits, AFI‘s earlier output, or anyone who thinks the world could do with more horror movie referencing punk rock in 2026, Hellbound Heist are well worth your time. We’ll be keeping a close eye on what comes next!
