It’s been 40 years since The Tubes hit the decks with their first album and they’re back on UK shores to celebrate with a 9-date tour that takes in venues throughout England and Scotland.
The 40th Anniversary Tour starts in Bristol and takes in Brighton, Southampton, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Edinburgh and Wolverhampton. Fans can expect to see the usual shenanigans from Quay Lewd (aka Fee Waybill) as most of the original line-up take to the stage.
The bands’ 1977 tour was a mix of success, disaster and notoriety with UK censorship making its mark on the bands performances not to mention the fact that Waybill broke his leg on stage while performing as Johnny Bugger, another of his wild personas. The 1977 tour resulted in the bands’ first live album, ‘What Do You Want From Live’, but the broken leg also meant the cancellation of the remainder of the tour.
A second attempt at a UK Live album came in 2005 with ‘Wild in London’ where Vice Squad’s Beki Bondage contributed to the vocals.
The line-up consists of original members Fee Waybill, Roger Steen, Rick Anderson and Prairie Prince with relative new boy David Medd making up the numbers. Expect to hear ‘What Do You Want From Life’, ‘Mondo Bondage’, ‘Sushi Girl’ and, of course, ‘White Punks on Dope’.
