Review: Brother Firetribe – Sunbound

This sounds absolutely epic, and I am not being cheesy when I use the term epic because it is. ‘Sunbound’ is a gigantic track despite being just over a minute long, but if this track is anything to go by then the album will be phenomenal.

‘Help is on The Way’ doesn’t disappoint as its large rhythmical hooks take hold and allow you to bask in its glory. Finland is making its mark on the scene with some of the catchiest tracks ever to hit the speakers and this track is no exception.

‘Indelible Heroes’ packs a punch and again possesses a superb melodic flavour that just boils over and rewards the ears with pleasing riffs and melodramatic beats. Definitely ‘feel good music!’

‘Taste of a Champion’ explores really hypnotic tendrils of increasingly interwoven textures that are emotive and forthright!

‘Last Forever’ introduces us to a superb keyboard extravaganza as the keys dance to a bold rhythm with absorbing melodies.

‘Give Me Tonight’ is another intense bruising of vibrancy and emotionally charged grazing that is a pleasure to savour!

‘Shock’ is a slower paced track that is poignant and sturdy in its approach, as well as being moreish and addictive with its concrete solid rhythms and uplifting vocals.

‘Strangled’ as ever the sound of Sunbound is ever intoxicating and magnetic. It has a flavour of being AOR so will appeal to a lot of people who back in the day were weaned on it.

‘Heart of the Matter’ is rugged and bristles with a fiery heart, inciting a lot of melodic temptation. Loving those keyboards by Tomi Nikulainen, so catchy and rhythmic!

‘Restless Heart’ has the element of surprise and intrigue nestled into its structure. As it plays out you can feel the magic it exudes with a sprinkling of keyboard notes and fierce riffs – very deep track!

‘Big City Dream’ blends urgent with melodic and comes up with another superb track. Holding a slight ambient stroke of darkness but having the sense to leave enough light to be uplifting and thrilling in delivery.

‘Phantasmagoria’ is ultimately dark and fierce but holding in its strenuous arms is a very deep and arousing melody that binds listeners to the music with absolute ease.

This is one amazing album that has to be explored, savoured and treasured! It deserves a well-earned place in the collection and should be played to death!

Brother Firetribe Sunbound is out via Spinefarm Records on March 24th 2017.
