Cairo Knife Fight’s Afterbias

Cairo Knife Fight has signed with Golden Robot Records under whom their new single, ‘Afterbias’ has been released.

“‘Afterbias’ is a riff I had kicking around for years and just couldn’t find a home for. Following the death of my first bandmate, Aaron Tokona, it took on a new life and seemed to be the right sound at the right time,” revealed lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Nick Gaffaney, adding: “Lyrically everything fell into place quickly and it can really be seen as a message to him, something I think he would’ve loved.”

Serving as an homage to Gaffaney’s late friend and collaborator, its lyrics that resonate with personal connection,  encapsulating a raw energy and an evocative narrative.

Recording the single at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 was a dream realised for Cairo Knife Fight. Gaffaney reflected on the experience, expressing gratitude for the opportunity, “Having the chance to make that kind of statement about an old friend and putting it all together in an environment like Studio 606 was a dream come true and not something you get to do every day. I’ll always be grateful for that opportunity.

Discussing their signing, band manager Gary Poole said, “It’s especially rare these days to find a label that actually cares about the music and the artist as opposed to social media numbers. Mark Alexander-Erber only cares about the music and the artist. We’re grateful he was a huge fan of our band, and went out of his way to find us! We look forward to a long, successful run with Golden Robot Records and the incredible team Mark has assembled there.”

Formed in New Zealand, and now splitting their time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Cairo Knife Fight features Gaffaney on lead vocals, drums and keyboard bass (all at the same damn time), and George Pajon Jr; Grammy winning guitarist for some of the biggest names in the business: Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Carlos Santana, Macy Gray, John Legend, Nas and Sting, just to name a few). The band’s incorporation of various loops and live treatments defies believability and pushes the limits of what two musicians can do on one stage.
