New extreme metal collective Hexbane will follow the release of ‘Nefarious Spells’, their debut single and video, with a 7″ EP, From Hell, out jointly via The Circle Music and Hell’s Fire Records on 15 September 2026.
Steeped in the dark lore of early extreme metal, ‘Nefarious Spells’ is intended to conjure an atmosphere of sulphur smoke, stygian psalms and obsidian blades.
“This is the first song of Hexbane coming to light!” the band declared. “Our driving force is our love for old-school black metal, the music we grew up with. We think that ‘Nefarious Spells’ is a fine specimen of this attitude: old school but not retro! Rejoice!”
You can access the single across digital platforms and check out the video below.
“The video clip is a mini-documentary of the recording process of the Hexbane songs,” the band continued. “Nothing fancy or grand but straightforward and honest like our music. We hope you enjoy both the music and the video. It is coming straight from our black hearts! In darkness.”
The band comprises a monumental lineup of extreme metal veterans: The Magus on vocals (ex-Necromantia, ex-Rotting Christ, The Magus, Thou Art Lord), George Emmanuel on guitars (Lucifer’s Child, ex-Rotting Christ), Tas Danazoglou on bass (Friends Of Hell, ex-Electric Wizard, Mirror, Satan’s Wrath) and Faust on drums (Djevel, ex-Emperor, Blood Fire Death).
The band said initially: “Hexbane is a band born out of nostalgia and admiration of the primal black metal days, where pioneer bands created and established the genre. So expect nothing more and nothing less than pure proto-black metal in music and spirit.”
From Hell will feature the tracks ‘From Hell’ and ‘Nefarious Spells’. It is available on red vinyl, gold vinyl and digitally. Those who purchase the Special Edition format or download the EP via Bandcamp will receive an exclusive bonus track, a cover of the Bathory classic ‘The Return Of Darkness And Evil’.
