Jamie Lenman Shares Ruthless Single ‘You’re Nothing’

Jamie Lenman has announced a new album, Puke, due on 6 August 2026, and marked the news with a blunt new single, ‘You’re Nothing’, arriving with a video.

The former Reuben frontman has never been one for convention, and Puke leans further into that instinct. ‘You’re Nothing’ is a short, furious swipe at people who mistake loudness for insight. “Lyrically ‘You’re Nothing’ is about putting people away, especially people who seem to think their views are in some way clever or important,” Lenman explains. He describes the target as a bigot who “can’t help themselves from spouting hurtful nonsense,” adding: “I’m just trying to take these people down a peg. Why should we listen to you? Sit down mate.”

The single follows the equally combative ‘Not Likely’. Both tracks, and the album itself, will live solely on Bandcamp under a pay what you want model, a decision Lenman ties directly to how he now funds his work.

“When I put ‘Not Likely’ on Bandcamp in April for pay what you want, I made more money than any other single I’ve ever released, and actually more than some of my entire albums,” he says. “All of that goes straight back into making more art.”

Puke came together almost by chance. Lenman recorded it across roughly two years, booking studios wherever he happened to be, allowing nothing more than a day per track and no more than three takes of anything. The result is rawer and more aggressive than its predecessor. “I spent a lot of time really crafting my last album, and this is a response to that process,” he notes.

The record is his first new music since the 2023 EP Iknowyouknowiknow and 2022’s acclaimed The Atheist, a gap he spent building a thriving fan club through Patreon that has, by his account, reshaped how he makes records.

Lenman returns to the stage at ArcTangent Festival on Saturday 22 August, following recent appearances at the Alt Escape and a support slot with post hardcore favourites Texas Is The Reason.

We have always rated Lenman as one of British heavy music’s true individualists, and Puke sounds like the work of an artist enjoying that freedom more than ever.
