Lake Acacia have released new single ‘They Won’t Break Us’, a hard hitting anthem about media manipulation, misinformation and the abuse of power used to keep the truth from the public eye.
Blending aggressive energy with a message of resistance, the song challenges fear driven narratives and pushes listeners to question what they are told. Its defiant hook, “they won’t tame us, they won’t break us”, lands as a rallying cry for speaking out, fighting back and refusing to be silenced.
Trying to categorise Lake Acacia rather misses the point. The Midlands two piece exist in the spaces between genres, building a sound that is heavy, cinematic and relentlessly forward moving. Colossal low end riffs collide with layers of synths, strings, electronics and percussive textures, shifting between crushing heaviness, industrial and electronic breakdowns and soaring melodic moments. Towering vocals, rich with harmony and emotion, sit at the centre, balancing intensity with atmosphere.
The band originally formed in 2017 as a three piece, then hit a crossroads when the pandemic brought everything to a halt. Following the departure of their lead vocalist, what could have been the end instead became a chance to completely reimagine the project. Reforming as a two piece in 2020, Joe and Tim stripped everything back to its foundations and began rebuilding with a broader creative vision, one that embraced atmosphere, electronics, cinematic textures and sheer sonic weight without being tied to any single genre.
Rejecting the limits often pinned on a two piece setup, Lake Acacia create something that feels vast, dynamic and unpredictable, pulling influence from metal, post rock and electronic music without ever settling in one place for long.
‘They Won’t Break Us’ is out now.
