Get ready to be possessed by Mad Man’s Spirit, a new punk band hitting the world with the release of their debut self-titled EP.
Kicking things off is the band’s first single ‘Lies’. Giving audiences everything they wanted from the Blink-182 comeback, the single embodies mischievous punk as it explores those everyday lies we tell each other and ourselves. Complete with power chord overload, anthemic chorus screams, and the kind of guitar solo you’d expect from a Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtrack.
The full EP continues on as ‘Lies’ sets out. Influenced by the MTV generation punk attitude and the modern social climate, Mad Men’s Spirit is the new soundtrack to the mosh pit looking for a bit more substance behind the noise. The EP was mixed and mastered by Grammy award winning engineers Tom Lord-Alge and Ted Jensen who between them have worked with the likes of Green Day, Blink-182, and Sum 41.
The group began as frontman Tony Slacker’s childhood band that, in true Mad Man’s Spirit, would have judges turn up their noises while getting schoolmates on their feet. Today, it is an international collaboration between Tony and bassist Karu in London, drummer Celsn and lead guitarist Dome in Germany, going to prove that punk knows no borders.
As Slacker put it “Being punk is about being an individual, an outcast, with your own opinion based on bullet proof arguments; to try something new no matter where; have your own style different from the majority; to be outstanding. Punk means for us also – being able to say and do what you want, not harming or judging others because they don’t do it and go your own path together with your beliefs and taking the responsibility for your decisions.”
The Mad Man’s Spirit EP, the ’Lies’ single and its follow-up ‘Pit Bull’ are available across all platforms now.
