Out now via Frontiers Music Srl, The Master Plan has been described as Michael Sweet‘s “most personal and spiritually resonant solo album yet”, arriving alongside a recent run of singles taken from the long player.
The most recent among those singles is ‘Again’, about which Sweet commented: “We’ve all lost someone. We all feel pain from that loss. I wrote this song to help people to heal,” and you can check out the lyric video to that here at RAMzine, as you can previous single ‘Worship You’.
A deeply personal and sonically expansive project, The Master Plan marks a bold departure from Sweet’s signature hard rock sound with Stryper, the band he has sung with for four decades. It showcases an eclectic mix of influences that reflect his musical roots and lifelong inspirations. “It’s totally different… It’s not a rock record. It’s an eclectic mix of everything I grew up on,” Sweet explained. “I didn’t want to follow any rules, I just wanted to do whatever I wanted to do.”
The album was co-produced by Sweet and Jeff Savage, and mixed by Danny Bernini at Spirithouse Studios. Beyond its musical diversity, it carries a strong message of faith, perseverance and encouragement, hallmarks of a career spanning decades. “I hope people can be lifted up, encouraged, inspired… if I can help someone through a song, I’ve done my job,” said Sweet. “It was therapeutic for me, and I want it to be for other people as well.”
Tracks featured on The Master Plan are: ‘The Master Plan’, ‘Lord’, ‘Stronger’, ‘Eternally’, ‘You Lead I’ll Follow’, ‘Desert Stream’, ‘Believer’, ‘Again’, ‘Faith’ and ‘Worship You’.
