Norwegian black metal act Mork‘s new album Monolitt is out now on Peaceville Records, as is the second single taken from it, ‘Torden‘.
“This energetic track captures the moment when storm hits. When the elements have had enough and it is time to wash everything away in anger. It’s big and epic at the same time of being crushing and relentless. A track that gets the blood boiling,” commented Mork.
Produced by Matthew Vickerstaff, you can watch the video for ‘Torden‘ here at RAMzine.
Mork was created by Thomas Eriksen in 2004, with the debut album Isebakke eventually surfacing in 2013. Since then, Mork has risen through the echelons of black metal, and on the heels of 2024’s intense and groundbreaking Syv opus, which resulted in the band branching out with tours in the Far East and Australia, Eriksen continues on this evolutionary path with the new album.
Monolitt was recorded and performed primarily by Thomas Eriksen, with Asgeir Mickelson supplying drums, plus additional vocals coming from fellow Mork member Øyvind Kaslegard. The album was mixed at Toproom Studio by Børge Finstad (Mayhem), before being mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door (Darkthrone), and at Appelbaum Mastering by Maor Appelbaum (Sepultura). Available in a variety of formats, cover art was by Norwegian artist Kjell Åge Melland with a contribution from David Thierree.
Tracks featured are: ‘Under Vekten Av Verden‘, ‘Ødelagt‘, ‘Torden‘, ‘Skrømt‘, ‘Ferdamann‘, ‘Inn I En Annen Sfære‘, ‘Martyr‘, ‘Jutul‘ and ‘Utryddelse‘.
The first single from the album was ‘Ødelagt‘. Lyrically it explores the downfall of the self. It tells of a hollow existence built upon illusion, a throne constructed from falsehood and self-deception. As the echoes of nothingness ring out, the mask finally falls, revealing a life consumed by its own emptiness. What once appeared as purpose dissolves into resignation, where the final truth becomes unavoidable: everything was in vain.
“A stark monument to the unrelenting brutality of reality, the monolith looms above us, immovable, indifferent, eternal. Its crushing presence bears down on the spirit, suffocating hope and testing the limits of endurance. It is an experience carved in stone, unyielding,” said Thomas Eriksen.

Come October Mork perform in Spain with Bewitched, then are special guests to Soulburn across Europe.
