Fresh from the gothic underground, with their self-titled debut album out now via The Circle Music, new dark electronic band Virgin Vampires issue their latest single ‘The Silent Witness’, available digitally, with a video you can check out here at RAMzine.
Established in 2023 from the minds behind Pink Panther Project, Virgin Vampires was the first music collaboration between Ether, Alex and Uela. While initial collaborations between the trio yielded promising results, Uela’s true voice shone through in a darker, more electronic direction – A stark departure from the band’s initial vision. With renewed focus on Pink Panther Project, Virgin Vampires returned to its roots, crafting powerful demos centred on male vocals.
This creative detour led to a prolific year and a half, with both bands recording a staggering 32 songs across two albums, scheduled for release in September 2024. Drawing inspiration from their gothic moniker, Virgin Vampires‘ lyrics paint a vivid picture – A lamentation on mortality and indulgence, all wrapped in striking visuals. Their sound masterfully gothic influences with modern electronics, and their vocal approach is refreshingly rock – A stark contrast to the monotony plaguing the genre. Comparisons to She Wants Revenge and similar acts are apt.
The band said: “We’ve poured our hearts and souls into this album and we’re excited to be sharing the first single with you all. As you’ll hear, we wanted to push the boundaries of gothic and EBM genres and explore new sonic territories. For us, this isn’t just another album; it’s a testament to respecting tradition while pushing the boundaries of modern music. This is just the beginning of our journey, and we’re excited to see where it takes us.”
Tracks featured on the album are: ‘The Strange House’, ‘Broken’, ‘Butterfly On The Moon’, Plastic Dreams’, ‘The Silent Witness’, ‘Virgin Vampires’, ‘Electric Pulse’, ‘Heart So Frozen’, ‘Mechanical Symphony’ and ‘Out Of Control’.
Third single, ‘Electric Pulse’ was described as “a sonic assault with a regular electric pulse throughout the song, a powerful and calibrated chorus and bewitching rhythms,” it followed the release of the singles ‘Butterfly On The Moon’ and the self-titled ‘Virgin Vampires‘ and most recently ‘The Strange House’ was issued.
‘Butterfly On The Moon’ showcased the band’s ability to craft a driving, rhythmic soundscape infused with guitar riffs and mesmerising vocal lines. The track is a sonic journey that blends gothic undertones with modern electronic elements, creating a distinctive and powerful sound that sets Virgin Vampires apart from their contemporaries.
