Bologna’s melodic death metal outfit Obsidian Fall open a new chapter with ‘Empire Down’. It’s the first single from their upcoming second album, and it comes with an official music video.
Their 2025 debut Elegy From A Dying World mixed aggression and melody with melancholic, cinematic atmospheres. ‘Empire Down’ keeps those melodic death metal roots and symphonic touches but takes a more modern, direct and compact approach, built for immediate impact.
The track was produced by Eddy Cavazza, whose credits include Awake For Days, Logical Terror and Trick or Treat. Visually, the single introduces new imagery: an empire built on power, oppression and worship, where an ancient presence summoned by mankind grows into something they can no longer control.
Formed in 2023, the band are Mira on vocals, Promether on guitar, Nanse on bass and Iskandar on drums. The title of the new album will be revealed later.
‘Empire Down’ is out now.
