Red Method have announced a new EP, As In Life, due 18 July, and marked the news with ferocious new single ‘Counting Corpses‘.
The London metallers have been building toward this for a while, and As In Life follows the momentum of recent single ‘Becoming the Sickness‘, which laid out the band’s heaviest and most emotionally raw direction yet. Vocalist J S.A.N.G.R.E has previously framed the band’s current material as a primal onslaught of human emotion and a critique of the world as it is now, digging into post-lockdown paranoia, the disconnection of life lived through screens, and the kind of mental health struggle you hide from everyone around you.
‘Counting Corpses‘ arrives as a fittingly rabid taste of what’s to come, all brutal riffs and unflinching delivery, the sound of a band with no interest in pulling punches. It’s a visualiser-backed single that sets a savage tone for the EP.
Red Method also appear on the recently completed bill for Mangata Festival in Nottingham this September, part of a busy stretch for one of the UK underground’s most uncompromising heavy acts.
We’ve followed Red Method’s run closely, and on the evidence of ‘Counting Corpses‘ they’re sharpening rather than softening, which is exactly what we want to hear from them!
As In Life is released on 18 July.
