Through Corrosion with Sisyphean

Following a successful 17-date European tour in 2022 with Mgla and Ulcerate in support of the release of their sophomore album Colours Of Faith, Lithuanian atmospheric black metal act Sisyphean return with a new single and lyric video.

Entitled ‘Through Corrosion’, it’s intended to be both mind-bending and thought-provoking, and is out now on all digital platforms via Transcending Obscurity Records. The single also includes a live version of the track ‘Hearts of Mercury’ which was recorded at the Mercury Booking showcase in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2021.

The band commented: “After releasing Colours Of Faith last year, we focused on gigging activities and the live presentation of the album. However, creativity is a constant effort in Sisyphean, and we have a new single: ‘Through Corrosion’ is a song that we played live in a lot of recent gigs, so some of the audience might already be familiar with it.”

‘Through Corrosion’ explores the neural basis of self, that is the idea of using neuroscience to understand the biological processes of our perception of self-understanding. Lyrically, the track also explores cognition and dissolution of self through violent, yet not always visible processes.

The vocalist Dainius said: “Musically, ‘Through Corrosion’ is quite straight-forward and moving, so the lyrics reflect this quality by being very physical and somatic. In the broad sense, the human condition is the main poetic topic within the band, but this time there is little space for metaphysics and abstraction.”

Sisyphean was formed in 2014, and the first LP Illusions Of Eternity was released via French label Drakkar Productions in 2017. Thereafter, they played assorted shows, including festivals in the Baltic States, Germany, and Belarus, before recording Colours Of Faith in 2020.

The following year, Sisyphean released a live-in-studio video for one of the songs `Open Wounds` and signed with Transcending Obscurity Records for a worldwide deal. Colours Of Faith was then released in 2022, and played festival spots at Howls of Winter (Estonia), Kilkim Žaibu (Lithuania), and Devilstone (Lithuania) before embarking on embarking on a 17-date tour in November supporting renowned black metal force Mgla (Poland), and tech-death band Ulcerate.

‘Through Corrosion’ is available on all digital platforms here and you can check out the video here at RAMzine.
