Beloved Belfast band, The Adventures, return with Once More With Feeling, their first studio album in over 30 years – It will be available on CD and digital platforms on 28th March via Cherry Red Records.
Featuring original members Pat Gribben, Terry Sharpe, and Eileen Gribben, this brand-new collection is said to capture the magic that made the band a standout in the 1980s and 1990s.
Best known for their 1988 UK Top 20 classic ‘Broken Land’ – The most-played song on BBC Radio 1 that year – The Adventures return with “ten stunning tracks that reaffirm their knack for crafting unforgettable melodies and heartfelt lyrics”.
Born from a creative surge during lockdown, Pat Gribben crafted much of the album in his home studio before finishing the record and mixing it at Einstein Studios, delivering a deeply personal yet universally resonant collection of songs. The album includes ‘L.U.C.Y.’ described as “an exciting songwriting collaboration between Gribben and Cathy Dennis”, while also marking Gribben’s first lead vocal on an Adventures album. From the wistful ‘My Imaginary Girlfriend’ to the poignant ‘With The Cats’, Once More With Feeling is a showcase of lush instrumentation and soaring harmonies, all recorded with a blend of homegrown creativity and studio polish.
The full track listing is: ‘My Imaginary Girlfriend’, ‘With The Cats’, ‘When The Sun Goes Down’, ‘Love Talk’, ‘L.U.C.Y.’, ‘Down By The Water’, ‘Song For You’, ‘I Still Dream Of You’, ‘The Hanging Tree’ and ‘To Whom It Concerns’.
With a career that spans decades, The Adventures remain one of Northern Ireland’s most cherished musical exports. This long-awaited release is both a celebration of their legacy and a fresh chapter in their story, making Once More With Feeling an essential listen for fans old and new.
