Live Review: We Are The Ocean, Decade, Boy Jump Ship

Well its been a great night. Fantastic support acts with a fantastic headline you can’t go wrong. oh and cheep beer is a total win.

Boy Jump Ship

The first to come on stage. They were defiantly a good choice as without any suspense or doubt, they went straight into action and the crowd responded with singing and ace dance moves. Blasting out happy catchy beats. Everyone is in a great mood. Despite some minor stage problems, it didn’t’ stop these chaps from playing as they carried on with pride belting out the rock n roll beats. By the third song ‘Fugitives’ they wanted a clap along. They got a clap along, the crowd love em. For a bonus they played a track from their debut EP ‘Make You Proud’ – this track is a perfect example of what these guys are like. Google, fb youtube any form, just find it and listen, you won’t regret it.

Boy Jump Ship 2

Decade

Taking of where Boy Jump ship left, carrying on the good rock and roll mood. The crowd has even started to get its boogie on (yes I said that). “Colin Firth and Jude Law are out filming today, they said they were going to come down, but guess they are not here” – you can’t beat a bit of humor. I tell you what though, its starting to get rather humid in here. Alex (lead singer) is casually walking around the stage getting up close to the crowd, feels like a 3D film but real, and this is only the middle of the first song. The guitarist Joe is happily showing of multi tasking skills, playing guitar and dancing and not giving a dam. “Put your hands up, come on keep them up” say Decade. The second to last song is slower and soothing but a belter! “Last song I want to see everyone jump” everyone indeed started to jump. This place is full of energy it’s a great way for a set to end. They remind me of the Story So Far but a brit version. So if you love them you’ll love these!

Decade 2

We Are The Ocean

Opening the stage up with three classic tracks including ‘Nothing Good Has Happened Yet’ – this is going to be brilliant! Liam (lead singer) says “We know we have been out of the game for a while, but we are back with new tracks”.Wato 1

“We love Manchester, it’s the best atmosphere.” – Liam, We Are The Ocean

“Not gunna lie my voice is fucked, so im gonna need your help with this track, Runaway”. With this the crowd went nuts shouting and singing along to the chorus, Liam goes quiet at it and you can hear everyone giving it beans. I think why WATO love playing here is due to the crowd being off their rockers, singing, dancing, and being very interactive with em. You can defiantly tell despite the sore throat, Liam is giving all he has got. All I know is, that his throat is going to hurt like hell in the morning but it’ll be worth it. “This may look like piss but it’s a mighty fine refreshment” says Liam, We Are The Ocean. If I can remember it’s a mix of vodka, beer and wiskey!?

“Gonna need your help, you know machine?” says Liam. “YEAH” shouts the crowd loudly. “This song takes us back from when we first started”. With some more good news on the night, they have announced a new Album launching next march! With this they sang a track called ‘Elber‘. “We’ll play it though you’ll won’t know the lyrics.” It didn’t matter the crowd are going mental to hear it. It was Rock and Roll with a Punk twist of course – this track will get you up and jumping like a fish out of water (in a good way). I have a good feeling this track will leave a mark in the music charts. I just hope March comes quickly.

Another great track they played was ‘Confessions’. But they spiced it up. They started it slow and mellow, the crowd slow claps along, “Manchester are you ready” says Liam. The crowd ROAR back and BOOM! Comes the rock!

“Thank you Manchester you have been awesome” says Liam. Well I think its time to wrap it up. In a nutshell it was fantastic, great atmosphere/ humor from the bands and crowd. I can’t wait for the new album to come out and I hope this review swayed you into listening to Boy jump ship and decade!
