Doomed From Day One at TECH FEST

Rapidly climbing the ranks of the UK metal scene, the tight knit unit, DOOMED FROM DAY ONE, have quickly been recognised as a force to be reckoned with. Forming in late 2009 – early 2010 the band released their debut EP ‘The Wasted World’ in 2011 which was received well by all of the UK top publications, also receiving recognition in the US. which was closely followed by ‘Nine Fingers’ . Over the past couple of years the band has shared stages with metal giants such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Sylosis, Bleed From Within and Thy Art Is Murder.

The band met at ACM in Guildford (Academy of Contemporary Music) when they all responded to an advert for musicians looking to form a band with a list of influences. That said they themselves say “we sound nothing like that anymore”. Then 2 years later, bringing them to 09/10, drummer Daniel Ristic joined up and DOOMED FROM DAY ONE was born!

The band play a unique blend of Progressive Death Metal with elements of Tech, Death and Prog thrown in and i think a sprinkle of Core but either way, the quintet fucking rip! On vocals is Sean Scott, guitars is Charlie Griffiths and Charlie Frederick, on bass Eifion Sweet and Daniel Ristic on drums.

These lads are all about the community; playing their music, sharing it about and making friends! And that’s what they intend to do, having started work on their next album, which Daniel says “a good bit of has been written already but still needs more work to it”. I myself am biting my finger nails in excitement, as Sean said “none of us have written an album before”, I have the utmost faith in these guys and their talent. They’ve proven to the nation that they can kick out the jams and definitely made an impression at Tech Fest. With this new album in the works, a well deserved gigging break is in order so they can sit down and concentrate on this full release.

Their performance at Tech Fest, regardless of being an early slot, was energetic and done with 110% enthusiasm, even if the crowd was a little bit slow! A top performance from the band, a good bunch of marmite lovers with some interesting uses for the glorious brown paste known as Marmite including a Blu-Tac substitution. They’re not quite sure about their condiments although Sean believes he knows what should be where, and as a whole they are worryingly optimistic about the use of Shreddies against Bears; theories involving the slave labour of pensioners to knit cages of Shreddies to contain Bears.

I'm the beer drinking, metal screaming, photo taking, awkward interviewing guy that loves deathcore and anything heavy ever. Metal has been a huge influence on my life and will continue to be so. I get overly excited about meeting bands I listen to; probably something to do with a childhood dream.
