Spyder Byte – Road To Bloodstock 2017

Next on our series of interviews and features are unsigned Kent sleaze-metallers Spyder Byte. make sure you check them out on Bloodstock’s famous bar-come-stage combo – The Jagermeister Stage. This stage has hosted the likes of Phil Campbell and Knock Out Kaine in the past, and welcome a whole new roster of bands in 2017. We spoke to vocalist Daniel Lawrence about their opportunity to play Bloodstock.
How does it feel to play Bloodstock 2017?
Ever since we were all teenagers, we’ve always wanted to gig at Bloodstock despite how different we were to everyone else performing at Bloodstock in previous years, and now. But after all these years, competing in several Metal 2 The Masses, always getting to the finals and still not winning a single one, we still got offered a spot on the Jagermeister stage and we were absolutely chuffed to bits! It was a very intoxicating feeling!
For people who have not heard Spyder Byte – what is your sound like?
If AC/DC, Motley Crue and Motorhead all had a massive orgy, we would be the product … in sound form!
As a ‘Sleaze Metal’ band – do you feel there is room for all sub genres at Bloodstock?
We feel that Bloodstock should welcome all sub genres of metal, making it a more diverse metal festival with more variety than Bloodstock already has!
Which other bands at the festival would you like to see?
We’d love to see Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian, Municipal Waste, Havok, Kreator, Arch Enemy, Megadeth, Decapitated, Wretched Soul, Annihilator and Infected Dead.
What kind of bands did you listen to growing up?
We all grew up on 80’s rock and metal bands such as Motorhead, AC/DC, Anthrax, Ratt, Slayer, Queen …bands like that
Where does the name ‘Spyder Byte’ come from?
Our Bassist, Nathan, came up with the name through his irrational fear of spiders, henceforth, Spyder Byte!
Do you have a new album in the works?
We’re currently working on our E.P. which we will hopefully have done by the end of this year. This isn’t to say that we have not started work on a new album however as we are constantly pumping out riffs, lyrics, and ideas to get ready to start the album in the new year.
What can we expect from you’re Bloodstock show?
In your face. Consistent electrifying stage presence enhanced by powerful melodic songs that will have you head banging and singing along all day long! So come party with us and we’ll make sure it will be an experience you will never forget!
What is next for Spyder Byte?
We’ve only just recently announced that we’ll be supporting Toxic Rose at The Nambucca in London on the 21st October. This is a very exciting time for Spyder Byte.
You can catch Spyder Byte on the Jagereister stage, on Saturday, at Bloodstock 2017. In the mean time, you can stream their 2015 album ‘Addictive’ below:
