A Sweet Summer Coming

Things will be Sweet this summer with two albums set for special releases from Metalville Records.

First out the doors is Live At The Capitol (Hannover 1991) that will be released in a carefully restored reissue as a CD digipack and limited edition white vinyl, out on 2nd June. Recorded at the height of their early 90s live power, the record finds Sweet treating their enthusiastic audience to high energy renditions of their classics as well as rare album tracks at this concert.

Alongside guitarist Andy Scott, the last remaining member of their classic lineup, Sweet at that time featured Mal McNulty (Slade) on vocals and bass, drummer Bodo Schopf (Eloy/MSG) and keyboard player and guitarist Steve Grant (George Harrison/Eric Burdon).

Tracks featured are: ‘Hellraiser’, ‘AC/DC’, ‘X-Ray Specs’, ‘Sweet F.A.’, ‘The Six Teens’, ‘Burn On The Flame’, ‘Cockroach’, ‘Action’, ‘Love Is Like Oxygen’, ‘Set Me Free’, ‘Blockbuster’, ‘Teenage Rampage’, ‘Introduction’, ‘Fox On The Run’ and ‘The Ballroom Blitz’.

Three years after that live German recording first came out, Sweet released studio album The Answer, and it will be reissued on 10th July, expanded to include various bonus tracks. For this one, Scott, McNulty and Schopf were joined by bass player Jeff Brown (Cats In Space, Wildfire) and keyboard player and guitarist Steve Mann (MSG, Lionheart). Managing to reinvent themselves without losing sight of their roots, The Answer featured timeless hard rock with metal influences, yet always remained unmistakably Sweet.

The album is regarded as a genuine, long overlooked gem in the band’s discography. Having been available only to collectors for years, The Answer will finally be available once more on CD and vinyl for all fans of this British glam and hard rock legend.

Tracks featured are: ‘Do As I Say’, ‘X-Ray Specs’, ‘Am I Ever Going To See Your Face Again’, ‘Stand Up’, ‘Nouveau Rock Star’, ‘Natural’, ‘Mind’, ‘Marshall Stack’, ‘Red Tape’, ‘When Friends Fall Out’, ‘Is It True’, ‘Dangerous Game’, ‘I Don’t Want To Say Goodnight’, ‘Crudley Mott’, ‘Marshall Stack (Alt Ending)’, ‘Do As I Say (Single Mix)’ and ‘Stand Up (Heavy Rock Version)’.
